Last year we’re shared our extensive 10-part Christmas gift guide for Geographers which was quite the hit, so we thought it was time for a 2nd edition with some new, updated ideas!

Somehow, we’re already into December and hasn’t this year flown by. Perhaps you’ve gotten ahead of the game and have already done most of your gift shopping, thanks to your trusty plan and organisation skills. More than likely though, you may only just be starting to think about what to gift the people in your life this holiday season.

Whether you need a stocking filler for a loved one, or you’re stuck for ideas for your work Secret Santa (no more generic bath stuff!), unwrap the perfect presents for Geographers with our 2023 Christmas Gift Guide!

1. Books

We shared some great books last year, but we have some new releases in the world of geography, travel, and mapping, that might be a great addition to someone’s shelves:

2. Sustainable Living

Eco-friendly gifts can make a great stocking filler for an environmentally-conscious friend:

  • Drinks bottles – stay hydrated on the go with water bottles and coffee flasks. There are great options at Hydro Flask and a range of brands available at John Lewis
  • If you know someone who loves lighting a candle for a cosy evening in, these Soy Wax Candles from The Botanical Candle Co are a great environmentally friendly alternative
  • For green-thumb gardeners or someone who wants to get into growing but is limited on space, these Indoor Herb Gardens (£23) or Grow Your Own Vegetable Patch Kit (£19.95) are a wonderful option

3. Homeware

  • Mugs – These can be lovely meaningful gifts from a trip together, such as these Lake District Contour Mugs (£17.95), or even fantasy maps for book/film lovers like this Lord of the Rings Vintage Map Mug (£11.99)
  • If you’re feeling particularly creative, a geographic cheeseboard containing cheeses from across the UK like this one would make a great gift or Christmas party addition!

4. Stationary

For those that love to keep organised, new stationary can be a great Secret Santa or stocking filler gift:

5. Puzzles / Board Games

Who doesn’t love a board game? Whether it’s a relaxing jigsaw puzzle you’re after for someone, or a competitive game with friends, check these out activities:
