Hi all, I’m Maisie Loftus the new research and office assistant at Red Tiger. This blog post is centred around getting to know me and to gain an insight into my first week at Red Tiger.
Starting a new job can be a daunting experience given this role is in a completely different industry to my previous one. My nerves were soon settled when I met the warm and welcoming employees that make up Red Tiger. I was welcomed with open arms and quickly introduced to all aspects and functions of the company.
Before my very first working week at Red Tiger I was involved in their ‘Away Day’. This involved the team talking about the upcoming plans for the company. This part of the away day was important as it allowed me to have a taster of what my working life is going to be like. After we spoke about the goals and targets, we all ventured out and went for a lovely meal followed by a few drinks.
Being invited to this day with Steve, Paul and Chloe made me feel like a part of the team before I had even started, I was grateful for their effort to get to know me prior to my first day as it removed any form of pressure I was feeling ahead on Monday!
Another added extra was getting the opportunity to take part in a StrengthScope Psychometric assessment. This involved me taking a short questionnaire to determine what my top 7 strengths were.
This is a beneficial process as it allows not only me but also my colleagues to understand what different types of ways of working, work best for me. Steve, Paul and Chloe also have their own StrengthScope which allowed us to compare and chat about in what ways they are different and the same, and how this can come to use. The lovely Steph – who is a StrengthScope Master Practitioner, explained this process to me and showed me how having different strengths in the workplace between colleagues will have a positive impact.
My First Week at Work
My first working week has been extremely encouraging as I find each day, I have been learning new things and have been allowed to be involved in various parts of the business. My first day I ventured into the office to learn the ropes, I was greeted by Paul and Steve for a quick catch up before getting stuck in. We spoke about the goals of the company and what plans we have moving forward. I learnt about their processes and the way they work. It wasn’t all work though as we took a trip to a local pub for our lunch time break – well deserved.
Day 2 I was enrolled on Red Tiger Training’s Basic Excel course which allowed me to expand my skills further. This course was followed by a short assessment in which I could put the new skills I learnt to practice. Working from home was a new experience for me, I was apprehensive on how it would go but knowing I have Steve, Paul and Chloe there for backup was reassuring.
Another day in the office started with training on some of the recruitment CRM software and processes Red Tiger use to be a successful running company, this was obviously very important as they are used day in day out. Its nerve racking trying to learn new software and how to navigate around it especially when it is vital to the company, but I gained a lot of understanding from it with all the training I received – I am definitely not a pro and will need to continue to learn about this.
As I am writing this blog post it is coming to the end of my first working week at Red Tiger (08/09/2023). The past couple of days working from home have seem me focusing on a Research Analyst role search for one of our clients. Taking part in this role search has been a very rewarding part of my first week as it feels good knowing I am trusted with this, as finding the right candidates to fill a role is essential to the success and growth of Red Tiger. Not only do I feel rewarded but also extremely motivated to build on my skills and each week learn new things I can put into practice.
As a summary of my first week, I can only describe it as positive! I feel completely welcomed and so motivated to get cracking on the work/tasks I have been set. I believe having an interest and passion for the work you are involved in is extremely important, but not only this the people you work with are a huge factor.
The team at Red Tiger have had a huge positive impact on my first working week, they are ambitious individuals who continue to share new ideas and allow me to learn from their experiences setting me up for success from the beginning. I am grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to see what the future holds at Red Tiger!
